International Federation of Business and Professional Women or BPW International has been established in 1930 by Dr. Lena Madesin Philips.

Lena Madesin Phillips was convinced that any form of equality for women could last or be effective when achieved, unless it had a strong economic base?

สหพันธ์สมาคมสตรีนักธุรกิจและวิชาชีพสากลก่อตั้งในปี พ.ศ. 2473 โดย ดร. ลีนา เมดีซีน ฟิลิปส์ โดยดร ลีน่าเชื่อว่า ความเสมอภาคของสตรีจะเกิดขี้นได้ก็ต่อเมื่อเศรษฐกิจ

ในประเทศเข้มแข็งเพียงพอ

After meeting with Dr. Lena Madesin in WashIngton D.C.,in the year 1964 , Khun ying Somsri Jarearnratchatapak had established BPW-BKK.

ดังนั้นหลังจากได้พบกับดรลีน่า แมดิสินที่ กรุงวอชิงตัน ดีซี ในปี พ.ศ. 2507 คุณหญิงสมศรี เจริญรัชต์ภาคย์ จึงได้เข้าร่วมโดยการจัดตั้งสมาคมสตรีนักธุรกิจและวิชาชีพแห่งประเทศไทย-กรุงเทพฯ


In the year 1969 , Ms. Jamjit Laohawat established BPW-Chiengmai.

ในปี พศ 2512 ได้จัดตั้งสมาคมสตรีนักธุรกิจและวิชาชีพแห่งประเทศไทย-เชียงใหม่ โดยนางแจ่มจิตต์ เลาหวัฒน์

Later on in 1973, Khunying Chuenjit Sukhum joined  BPW and establish BPW-Songkla.

ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2516 คุณหญิงชื่นจิตต์ สุขุม ได้เข้าร่วมโดยจัดตั้งสมาคมสตรีนักธุรกิจและวิชาชีพแห่งประเทศไทย-สงขลา

Therefore in the year 1976, the 3 BPW  Associations had conglomerated and had formed The Federation of Business and Professional  Associaions of Thailand.

In fact, on 15 May 1981,  the Federation became The Federation of Business and Professional Associations of Thailand under the Royal Patronage

of Her Majesty the Queen.  Nowadays, we have 19 associations under the Federation of BPW Thailand. 

ในปี พ.ศ. 2519 ทั้งสามสมาคมจึงได้จัดตั้งสหพันธ์สมาคมสตรีนักธุรกิจและวิชาชีพแห่งประเทศไทยขึ้น ใช้ชื่อย่อ “สสธวท.” และได้รับพระมหากรุณาธิคุณรับเข้าอยู่ใน “พระบรมราชินูปถัมภ์” เมื่อวันที่ 15 พฤษภาคม พศ 2524

จึงได้ใช้ชื่อ ” สหพันธ์สมาคมสตรีนักธุรกิจและวิชาชีพแห่งประเทศไทย ในพระบรมราชินูปถัมภ์”

Aim & Ambition

"Develop women’s professional and leadership potential at all levels", with the determination that our effort will lead to "Equal Participation of Women and Men in Power and Decision-Making Roles".

The official Aims of BPW International are included as Article II of our Constitution.  Clubs are encouraged to have a member read out the Aims at each meeting.  However, sometimes a shorter form of the Aims is needed, especially if they are to be read out at a public event.

Past President Antoinette Ruegg wrote a short version during her term as BPW International President which was accepted as the official short form of the Aims.  This is as follows:

The main aim of BPW is to develop the professional and leadership potential of women at all levels.BPW members:·

  • take professional responsibility on all levels in the economy, politics and society
  • think and act locally, nationally and internationally
  • engage in networking, mentoring and lobbying
  • enjoy life-long learning
  • work with the United Nations and other international organisations
  • develop multicultural friendships.

Members are also encouraged to use President Benham’s mission statement under their email signature.  This is how our President describes BPW in a “New York minute” – and members can use this brief statement to explain who and what is BPW when they meet someone who knows little about our organisation.  This may be at an official event when you are introduced to someone, when you make a presentation on behalf of BPW to another organisation, or even in an elevator to an interested stranger!  You can use this statement in your curriculum vitae (resume) when you detail your experience in BPW.

President Liz Benham’s mission statement is:

BPW International develops the professional, leadership and business potential of women on all levels through advocacy, mentoring, networking, skill building and our economic empowerment programs and projects around the world


 According to Aims and Mission of BPW International now and then , then become the objectives of the Federation of BPW Thailand :

จากวัตถุประสงค์ของสหพันธ์สมาคมสตรีนักธุรกิจสากล จึงได้กลายมาเป็นวัตถุประสงค์ของสสธวท

1. เพื่อส่งเสริมมิตรภาพและความเข้าใจซึ่งกันและกัน ในบรรดาสตรีนักธุรกิจสตรีผู้ใช้วิชาชีพ ของประเทศไทยและนานาประเทศ
2. เพื่อเชิดชูและยกสถานภาพของสตรีนักธุรกิจและสตรีผู้ใช้วิชาชีพ ในด้านต่างๆ ทุกระดับ
3. เพื่อให้การปฏิบัติงานและธุรกิจต่างๆ ได้มาตรฐานและบริการสังคมใน ด้านที่เกี่ยวกับธุรกิจและวิชาชีพ ให้ดียิ่งขึ้น
4. เพื่อให้สตรีนักธุรกิจและสตรีผู้ใช้วิชาชีพตระหนักในหน้าที่ของตนร่วมกันใช้ความรู้ความสามารถให้เป็นประโยชน์แก่ส่วนรวม ทั้งระดับประเทศ และระดับโลก
